You Keep Saying Tomorrow, But Death May Come First
One day you will make your last decision on earth without knowing it is your last. One day you will say, “I will change later,” and later will never come. One day you will think there is still time to repent, still time to leave the sin, still time to return to God, still time to surrender your life to Jesus, but death may arrive before the tomorrow you keep trusting. That is the danger of delay. You think tomorrow belongs to you because you woke up today. It does not. You think you can enjoy sin now and repent when you are older. You do not know whether you will become older. You think you can chase money, fame, pleasure, influence, and the world today, then give God what is left of your life at the end. What if the end comes before you are ready? James 4:14 says your life is a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes. That means your next breath is mercy. Your next morning is mercy. Your next opportunity to repent is mercy. Do not turn mercy into permission to delay. God may have been dealing with you for years. He may have spoken to your heart when you were young. He may have warned you through your parents, through a preacher, through Scripture, through conviction, through circumstances, through that quiet voice inside you that kept saying, “Come back.” And still you keep saying, “Later.” How many times must God call before you answer? How many warnings do you need before you stop pretending you have unlimited time? Hebrews 3:15 says, “Today if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.” Today. Not next year. Not after one more relationship. Not after one more deal. Not after one more season of pleasure. Today. Every time you reject conviction, something happens inside you. Your heart becomes a little harder. The thing that once troubled you begins to feel normal. The sin that once made you afraid begins to feel comfortable. The warning that once shook you becomes easier to ignore. That is dangerous. You can train your heart to resist God. You can become so used to saying no that one day you stop feeling the seriousness of the choice. Do not let that happen to you. The world will offer you many things. Money. Fame. Pleasure. Attention. Power. Status. The feeling of being important. But none of them can buy one extra second when your time is finished. Your money cannot negotiate with death. Your fame cannot command judgment to wait. Your friends cannot stand in eternity for you. Your followers cannot carry your soul. Your plans cannot force tomorrow to arrive. When your last day comes, the things you chased will suddenly look small. Imagine knowing you had chances. Imagine remembering the moments God called you. Imagine remembering the prayers you ignored. Imagine remembering every time conviction came and you pushed it away because you wanted the world first. Then imagine wanting to come back. Wanting one more day. One more hour. One more chance to repent. But earthly opportunity is over. That is why delay is so dangerous. You do not need to hate God to be lost. You can simply keep postponing Him. You can keep saying, “Not now.” You can keep saying, “When I am older.” You can keep saying, “After I make enough money.” You can keep saying, “After I enjoy my life.” You can keep saying, “I will repent on my deathbed.” What if you never get a deathbed? What if your final moment comes suddenly? What if your last conversation has already happened before you realize your life is ending? Do not build your eternity on the hope that you will get one final warning. You already have a warning. This is one. The fact that your heart can still understand these words is mercy. Use it. There is also a choice before you. You cannot serve everything. You cannot give your heart fully to the world and fully to God at the same time. Jesus said in Matthew 6:24 that no man can serve two masters. You must choose. You may not say with your mouth, “I choose Satan,” but every time you knowingly choose sin over God, you are making a spiritual decision. Every time you silence conviction because you want pleasure, you are choosing. Every time you know the truth but choose rebellion, you are choosing. Every time God says, “Come,” and you say, “Later,” you are choosing. Do not pretend you are standing still. You are moving somewhere. One direction leads toward Christ. The other leads away from Him. And one day, the road you kept choosing will become your destination. That is why you must stop blaming God for choices He repeatedly warned you about. God loves you. Jesus gave His life for sinners. Mercy is available. Forgiveness is available. Salvation is available. But God will not force you to love Him. He calls. He warns. He convicts. He draws. You must respond. Deuteronomy 30:19 says, “I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life.” Choose life. Choose Christ. Choose repentance. Choose obedience. Choose now. Do not wait until eternity teaches you what time tried to teach you gently. Do not wait until there is no way back before you finally understand the value of one opportunity to repent. Do not wait until every excuse has died. One day, your phone will remain behind. Your money will remain behind. Your clothes will remain behind. Your plans will remain behind. Your name may remain on people's lips. But you will have entered eternity. Then the question will no longer be what you planned to do. The question will be what you chose while you still had time. So stop saying tomorrow. Repent now. Return now. Leave the sin now. Forgive now. Come back to God now. If you have been chasing the world, stop. If your heart has become hard, ask God to break it. If you know Jesus has been calling you, answer Him. Do not let your final words in eternity be, “I thought I still had time.” If you know you are not right with God and you want to surrender your life to Jesus Christ, pray sincerely from your heart: “Heavenly Father, I come to You in the Name of Jesus Christ. I admit that I am a sinner and I cannot save myself. I believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins and rose again. Lord Jesus, forgive me, wash me with Your blood, and have mercy on me. I repent of my sins and turn away from my old life. Come into my life and be my Lord and Savior. Give me the strength to obey You, follow You, and live for You from this day forward. Write my name in the Book of Life and help me to remain faithful to You until the end. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
